MindMac macOS App Privacy Policy

TL;DR

We make high-quality software and we respect your privacy and take it very seriously. We have no motivation to collect any of your personal data, or more data than needed to provide the main functionality of the app.

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service. We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Data we do NOT collect

  • The app does not collect your data include API keys, chat messages, history usage. All these data are stored locally on your computer without sending any data anywhere. All requests are sent directly to the OpenAI APIs without any middle server. We do not know anything about your data.
  • The app does not make any changes to the system without explicit permissions from you. Only one permission will be asked is keychain access which is required to store your API Key securely.
  • Name and contact details (such as name, address, or phone numbers).
  • Private information in your devices.

Users do not have to register to use MindMac. Thus, all users are anonymous to us. We do not hold personally identifiable information to identify users.

Data we collect and how we use them

If you purchase a license key, we will collect your email address. So that we can deliver the license key to you or to recover your license key when you lost it in the future.

The sole purpose of the app is to enhance the quality of the software by gathering anonymous crash logs. This data is collected solely for the purpose of improving the app's performance and user experience. The app does not collect any personal information or data that could be used to identify individual users. By collecting crash logs, we can identify and fix any issues that may be affecting the app's performance, ensuring that users have a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Service Providers

Paddle

We use Paddle payment system for our checkout process and help us to prevent fraud or flag suspicious transactions. Based on our agreement with Paddle, Paddle is not allowed to use users' information for their own purposes and may only transfer this information to third parties where required by law, or where such third parties process information on Paddle's behalf. All the data is required for purchasing will be transferred to their service.

Visual Studio App Center (prior the version 1.8.20)

We use App Center to help improve MindMac's stability and performance by sending the crash report if MindMac is terminated unexpectedly. Other diagnostics and usage data is collected anonymously and kept in aggregate with no personally-identifying information. We always ask for permission before sending crash report to App Center.

Firebase Crashlytics (from the version 1.8.20)

We use Firebase Crashlytics to help improve MindMac's stability and performance by sending the crash report if MindMac is terminated unexpectedly from the version 1.8.20 to replace Visual Studio App Center. Other diagnostics and usage data is collected anonymously and kept in aggregate with no personally-identifying information.

The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.
